Nomination Claire Newman Address : Longbrugh House, Longbrugh, Carlisle, Cumbria Postcode : CA5 6AF Telephone : Email : Nominated By: Full Name : Debbie Nixon Telephone : 07825828045 Email : debsnix@gmail.com IN WHAT CAPACITY DO YOU KNOW THE NOMINEE : Good friend YOUR NOMINATION ACHIEVEMENTS, PERSONALITY & SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY & OVER WHAT PERIOD OF TIME? : Claire is the organisational head and leader along side her family (her husband Ian, and daughter Emma) for over the last 5 years and more, dedicating they're (her) time volunteering to raise money for fantastic charitable organisations. Each year they are fabulous hosts, organisers and creators of 'Fieldfest!!' Each year they open up their family field to village residents, family friends, friends of friends and in general anyone who is up for supporting a great cause!! Fabulously persuading local bands, businesses to give up their time and volunteer in creating such a wonderful day/evening of live local entertainment, BBQ and great family fun. (See link for event information) https://www.facebook.com/LongburghFieldFest/ This year on Saturday 24th August, they sold over 200+ tickets, with over 200 people coming to support this fantastic event. Claire is the brains and behind the scenes operational manager to this festival. She uses her skills to persuade local businesses such as Caulder Foods to donate as food for the BBQ, wonderful small and big local businesses to donate prizes for raffles as well as researching local bands and using her loveliness into getting them to give up their Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend to play for free in support of this wonderful event! All proceeds go to charity, raising money each year for various charitable organisations. This years charity was Eden Valley Hospice. They have not managed to get final total confirmed as of yet, but they have estimated to have made over £2,000. In the 5+ years Claire and her family have been organising and hosting this event, I would estimate the amount of money raised for charity is over £10,000. This event takes weeks/months of preparation of which Claire ropes in her family/close friends and villagers into helping with. From field prep, turning their lovely summer house each year into a dedicated full working bar with beer taps and barrels!! (I think they have now excepted that the summer house is a secondary factor!) They have had professional staging equipment permanently erected in their field ready for each years festival. They also persuade the Sands Centre to provide lighting and 2 staff members each year (for free!) to create a professional light show for the fabulous performers who have kindly given up their time. The person I have nominated deserves to be considered for an invitation to the Cumbria Women of the Year Lunch because: : Not only is Claire a persuasive genius, she is the most generous, thoughtful and whole hardily the most loviest person you will ever meet. Claire in her day job is a Vaccine Business Manager for Sanofi Pasteur MSD. She is in charge of a devision of people seeking to extend the protective power of vaccinations to new diseases whilst improving existing vaccines to enhance health and wellbeing. To be able to juggle such a high powered innovate job role, and balance a charitable organisational event to a professional standard is a worthy nomination in my eyes. Claire is constantly putting herself behind a long list of people of which she strives to help and provide for. I hope Claire is finally recognised for her wonderful selfless achievements.
