Kerry Maxwell

Cumbria Women of the Year 2005 Winner

Kerry Maxwell worked as a voluntary worker with drug addicts, homeless youngsters, pregnant teenagers and other misled youths.   She set up the Whitehaven Community Trust following 25 years of hard work and voluntary commitment.   She later became Chief Executive of the Whitehaven Community Trust which provided beds for those who had fled their family homes and gave others enough self confidence and belief to join the working world.   Kerry and her staff at the community centre have trained more than 580 youngsters to Level 2 NVQ standard, equipping them for the workplace in either kitchen portering, counter-service or food preparation.
