Cumbria Life Award for Lifetime Achievement 2015 Winner

Margaret Farhall, by profession a nurse at Westmorland General Hospital, has served as the talented organistat St James’s Church in Staveley for over 30 years, where she has also run a children’s choir.  The mainstay of Staveley Choral Society as the choir mistress and librarian for 32 years, she has been a faithful Mothers Union member, renowned for fantastic baking skills.  She organises an Open Gardens event in Staveley in aid of charity, works energetically to raise funds for the Children’s Society, Christian Aid and Save the Children and is widely regarded as a good Samaritan to anyone in need.  Margaret’s generosity of spirit – she regularly opens her home to couples where one is a carer for the other and in need of vital respite – calm goodness, and selflessness have now been recognised with the Cumbria Life Lifetime Achievement Award.
